Are we over-disinfecting reclaimed water?  Membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems producing reclaimed water often don’t account for how effective membranes are as a barrier to pathogens when it comes to design of the disinfection system. KJ Wastewater Treatment Lead David Seymour discusses how one design team is optimizing disinfection by accounting for MBR pathogen removal.

Prepping your Wastewater for Future Potable Reuse

Speaker: Travis Stevens

Travis Stevens discusses the design of the Ventura Water Reclamation Facility (VRWF) with a focus on its inclusion in a future indirect or direct potable reuse project. The project used MBR technology with the EPA’s Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection Guidance Manual and the National Water Research Institute framework for UV design for compliance with both non-potable recycled water and future potable reuse requirements.
