The City of Oxnard (City) has implemented the Groundwater Recovery Enhancement and Treatment (GREAT) Program – a comprehensive water resources effort to increase local water supply reliability and to meet the needs of a fast-growing population.
A major component of the GREAT Program is the Phase 2 (Segment A) Recycled Water Backbone System (RWBS). The Phase 2 RWBS will include pipe distribution system with capacity to convey recycled water from the Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) to potential users throughout the City and vicinity areas.
Phase 2 RWBS is the installation of recycled water transmission pipelines and service turnouts. Approximately 40,800 feet of pipeline has been installed from the AWPF to several points along the north end of the City of Oxnard. The Hueneme Road Recycled Water Pipeline Phase 1 project installed 7,915-feet of 42-inch and 2,700-feet of 36-inch welded steel pipe (WSP) in Hueneme Road. Phase 2 connects to Phase 1 at Olds Road and installs approx. 16,700 feet of 24-inch HDPE pipe along Hueneme Road to the intersection of Wood Road and Hueneme Road.
The alignment of the pipeline intersects several road crossings, the Oxnard Drainage District No. 2’s Mugu Drain, Caltrans Right of Way at State Hwy 1, and several oversized existing utilities. The presence of these features will require the use of both trenchless and open trench construction.
