Kennedy Jenks served as lead design engineer on the award-winning project that was recognized by ASCE for its significant contributions to society.
The Pure Water Monterey Groundwater Replenishment Project was recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in October 2022 with an Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Honor Award. This award recognizes projects across the United States that best illustrate superior civil engineering skills and make a significant contribution to both civil engineering and society as a whole.
Kennedy Jenks was the lead design engineer on the team that delivered Monterey One Water’s Pure Water Monterey project, a $130 million integrated, state-of-the-art groundwater replenishment project. KJ provided design and engineering services, permitting and funding support, and facilitation with partner agencies and stakeholders from planning through project delivery. This is Northern California’s first indirect potable reuse project designed to help combat drought in the region.
“Working on projects like Pure Water Monterey, that have the potential to impact the quality of life for millions of people, is part of our lasting legacy here at Kennedy Jenks,” says Todd Reynolds, Water Practice Leader at Kennedy Jenks. “A project of this magnitude would not be possible without superior teamwork, and the OCEA Honor Award belongs to everyone who worked on the project.”
Pure Water Monterey was one of 11 projects that received the elite OCEA Honor Award. Learn more about the awards here.
