Reliability Centered Design uses key principles of Reliability Centered Maintenance, such as the Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), at the start of the project, testing designs for reliability, ease-of-use and operability, and lifecycle costs. Early in the design phase is where reliability efforts have the most impact. By encouraging discussions between operations and maintenance (O&M) team members and design engineers, RCD can bridge gaps, making designs more reliable, intuitive, easy to operate, and straightforward to maintain.
This workshop will include a mock FMECA facilitated by the panel to illustrate the process and explore the illuminating results of collaborative design review.
Members of KJ’s asset management team join panelists from Brown and Caldwell, Chicago Metropolitan Water District, and San Francisco Public Utilites Commision to facilitate the workshop and provide tips and lessons learned to attendees. This workshop is an excellent introduction to using reliability strategies to improve capital improvement and other design projects.
